Methamphetamine is a man-made stimulant drug used to speed up the function of the brain and nervous system. It is a more potent form of the drug amphetamine which is a stimulant drug used to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy, a sleep disorder. .
There are different forms of methamphetamine, generally distinguished by their appearance and perceived purity. The three main forms are:
The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration(DEA) report that meth is a highly addictive substance, and its use is associated with a number of severe consequences. The consumption of meth leads to a number of extremely powerful euphoric effects, caused by the drugs ability to release high levels of dopamine rapidly producing a sense of euphoria including increases in energy, feelings of invulnerability, and other psychoactive effects. The substance is often made with a number of other substances that are potentially toxic, such as antifreeze, battery acid, or drain cleaner, which ae highly dangerous.

Data from the Illicit Drug Reporting System (IDRS, 2018) indicates that one third of their national sample (910 injecting drug users) reported methamphetamine, including ice, as their drug of choice. This report also found an increase in the sample’s recent use of ice from 68% in 2017 to 75% in 2018.
People can test positive for methamphetamine after exposure to second hand smoke. Visibly undetectable traces of methamphetamine remain in a house after just one use and remain until the property is decontaminated.
Meth will not go away until it is removed correctly. The chemical residue of meth will be absorbed into any porous surface. Painting over it will not solve the problem either as meth will leach its way through paint. A number of health issues that have been directly related and attributed to people and families unknowingly moving into a meth contaminated property include
